UN warns world on track to miss global warming target

For the last decade, the world has promised to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius to mitigate the worst impacts of climate change. But the UN has warned the world will overshoot that target with catastrophic consequences. The planet is on the threshold at 1.4 degrees and is likely to pass 1.5 by 2030. The leaders of some of the world’s most vulnerable nations, gathered in Palau for this year’s Pacific Islands Forum meeting, have demanded serious action.
