Warnings issued after deadly start to the new year on east coast

Surf Life Saving New South Wales is urging people to stay out of the water, after a deadly start to the new year along the state's coastline. The organisation says multiple drownings and rescues have occurred in the past 24 hours, as hazardous surf conditions caught swimmers off guard.
