Woman awarded nearly $100,000 over unlawful strip search, paving way for class action

A young woman who was unlawfully strip-searched at a New South Wales music festival has been awarded almost $100,000 in damages. The supreme court ruling found Raya Meredith was subjected to "humiliating treatment" at the hands of police. The case was brought against the state and the finding paves the way for thousands more claimants who have joined a class action.
