The countdown is well and truly on to the Australian Test cricket series in India.
The Australians have been playing the India A team in Mumbai in preparation for the first of four Test matches, which starts in Pune on Thursday.
The exact composition of the Australian team for this match is a matter of much speculation.
Amongst those putting their name forward strongly in the match against India A has been batsman Shaun Marsh.
He scored a century in Australia's first innings.
He hasn't played a Test for Australia, due to injury, since the opening Test of the season back in November.
He says the key to success in India, something Australia has had very little of in recent times, is being prepared.
"We know what conditions we're going to get. So it's just about being ready for it, and players just having a really strong gameplan and sticking to it, and challenging each other. As I said, it's going to be good fun."
Australia women's cricket team will go to a third and deciding match in their Twenty20 series against New Zealand.
They won the first game in Melbourne on Friday, but lost the second one in Geelong on Sunday after a New Zealand hat-trick in the final over.
Game three is in Adelaide on Wednesday.
In football, the streak is over.
The streak we refer to, of course, is Sydney FC's unbeaten run to start the A-League season.
It went for nineteen matches, but no more.
The Western Sydney Wanderers ended their bitter rival's great run with a 1-0 win on Saturday night.
But it wasn't without controversy on or off the field.
Off the field, a banner some considered homophobic was unfurled by Wanderers fans in the stands during the match.
And on the field, Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold says his side was denied penalties by referee Chris Beath.
"It's football, isn't it? I know the players are extremely disapppointed. They feel there was potentially at least two."
In England, the romance of the FA Cup has bloomed again.
Lincoln City, a team in the fifth tier of English football, has qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition after defeating Premier League team Burnley 1-0.
This makes them the first non-league side, the football league covering English football's top four divisions, to make the last eight of the FA Cup in 103 years.
Looking to keep the romance going are little Sutton United.
The south London team are in English football's sixth tier and on Tuesday, they host mighty Arsenal for a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
All the pressure going into the game is on Arsenal, especially after their humiliation by German giants Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League last week.
Long-time Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has vowed to fight back, but has also publically broached the possibility of leaving the club at the end of the season, when his contract expires.
He says he will still coach next season, even if it's not at Arsenal.
"No matter what happens, I will manage next season- here or somewhere else. That is absolutely for sure. I hate defeat, and I hate to lose games, and I want to do extremely well for this club, It is difficult to take, but as well, I have the strength and the experience to respond."
A traditional February pursuit is the Charity Shield rugby league match, as South Sydney and St George Illawarra prepare for the new NRL season.
South Sydney, as expected, won this year's match, 32 points to 14.
After the match, South Sydney player Sam Burgess told Fox Sports things are looking good for his side, particularly at the key position of hooker, where they have both veteran acquisition Robbie Farah, as well as the younger Damien Cook.
"He's experienced, he's fit...he's an ultimate professional. Then you look...Cooky came on in the second half, a bit of a livewire...sparked a try from nothing. So, Madge has got a few decisions to make in a couple of weeks' time, but it's great. Good competition for spots."
And the long-awaited new national netball league has launched.
The GWS Giants, the new netball branch of the AFL club, Melbourne Vixens, and Adelaide Thunderbirds all secured Round One wins, whilst the Queensland Firebirds drew with the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
