The woman brought her exotic bird to Newark Liberty International Airport where footage showed travellers staring in bewilderment as she lined up to be checked in.

The unknown traveller was reported to have offered to buy the exotic bird a seat on the plane and claimed it was her right to bring the peacock as her "emotional support", according to Live and Let Fly blog.

However, United Airlines denied entry to the large bird and reportedly warned her prior to arriving at the airport that the peacock couldn't fly on the plane.

Ventiko, a Brooklyn-based artist, said the peacock's name is Dexter, according to the BBC.

She was originally bought for an art installation, but Dexter's journey is now documented on social media.
