Living standards across the world would improve if countries were run by women, former US president Barack Obama has reportedly said during a visit to Singapore.
According to the BBC, Mr Obama was speaking at a private leadership event when he said women were not perfect but "indisputably better than us [men]".
"I'm absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything ... living standards and outcomes," he said, the BBC reported.
"If you look at the world and look at the problems it's usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way."
Mr Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama had travelled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as part of the Obama Foundation Leader's Asia-Pacific program, which brings together emerging leaders from across the region.
Participants in the program will undertake training, skill-building workshops and community service over a one year period.
Last week, Mr Obama took to the stage as part of the event with his half-sister Maya Soetoro-Ng, discussing leadership, the Asia-Pacific region and the environment.
"When I moved to Indonesia in 1967, Indonesia had just gone through political turmoil and the country was still very underdeveloped, there was a lot of poverty," he said.
"There was also a lot of wealth, so you start to see how societies can give so much to some and so little for others. And that, I think, informed my views."
Mr Obama served as US president from 2009 until 2017.
