Andrew Carrazzo says he and other leaders at Carlton will speak to Chris Yarran regarding the punch that will almost certainly result in a suspension.
Yarran clocked Essendon veteran Paul Chapman in Saturday's MCG match, where the Bomber underwent a concussion test and needed stitches.
The match review panel is expected to come down hard on Yarran when its round-three findings are released on Monday.
There is a possibility the panel may refuse to grade the incident, instead referring it directly to the tribunal.
Regardless of what happens, it's hard to see how the 24-year-old could avoid suspension.

For the struggling Blues, who will be searching for their first win of the year when they face St Kilda in New Zealand on Saturday, it's an unwanted and unnecessary setback.
"We really need him out there. He's a really important player," Carrazzo told the Nine Network.
"I'm disappointed. An act like that really lets the team down, for how many weeks he misses.
"It's uncharacteristic from him ... I will chat to Yaz about it, as the others leaders will."
Meanwhile, an all-in melee between Adelaide and Melbourne at three-quarter time is likely to result in some fines.
Bernie Vince's close checking of Crows superstar Patrick Dangerfield, which seemingly led to the scuffle, is also likely to be looked at by the match review panel.
Vince crunched Dangerfield at every chance, often when the ball wasn't in the vicinity of either player.
Greater Western Sydney ruckman Shane Mumford was reported for rough conduct in Saturday's Sydney derby, but there is limited footage of the incident involving Jeremy Laidler.
"Mummy plays the game hard, he plays the game tough," GWS coach Leon Cameron said.
"He is never ever going to back down.
"Until I actually have a look at it, it is hard to comment."
