EXCLUSIVE: Ryan undergoes surgery with January loan move looming

Australia goalkeeper Mat Ryan has undergone surgery to remove a cyst from his hip - but will be back in action in January looking to reignite his club career with a loan move away from Valencia.

The 24 year old gloveman has grown frustrated at playing second, and sometimes even third fiddle, to Brazilian Diego Alves and local product Jaume Domenech at the Mestalla.

And his agent, former Denmark striker Mikkel Beck, is seeking a New Year loan deal elsewhere in Europe for the man who he insists "is far too good not to be playing".

Beck revealed there were already several interested parties, but the final say rested with Valencia who are scrapping points at the wrong end of the La Liga table.

Ryan, who signed on a six-year deal from Club Brugge 17 months ago, has made just two La Liga appearances so far this season and doesn't want to continue on the bench after Christmas.

"Maty had the cyst cut out [on Tuesday] and as of the end of December will be ready to train and play games again," said Beck.

"We are interested in going somewhere to play. Maty needs to be doing that because he's not been playing enough.

"We have told the club our wishes but of course the club has to decide who can and can't go, and we need to find the right team for him.

"I can say there is interest in clubs for Maty and that hurdle should be quite easy to jump.

"We are just waiting for Valencia to say he can go out on loan for six months to play week-in week-out."

Beck said the interest was coming from both inside Spain and also elsewhere.

"The main thing is that he should be playing," he added.

"In my opinion the fact he is not playing for Valencia should be a problem for them because he's that good that be should be getting picked.

"While we of course accept the decision of the coach [Cesare Pirandelli], Maty has been very patient and if the chance doesn't come it's better he goes out on loan.

"He wants to keep improving his game and that only comes with being in the rhythm of playing matches.

"He needs to be able to get that smile back on his face again."

Beck is hoping for a quick decision from Prandelli so "Maty can go somewhere from the first week in January".
