Socceroo Juric reportedly tests positive for COVID-19

Socceroos and former Western Sydney Wanderers striker Tomi Juric has reportedly tested positive to COVID-19 whilst quarantined in Bulgaria with current club CSKA Sofia.

Sofia are currently competing in the championship stages of the Bulgarian First League, their most recent match being a 3-3 draw with Levski Sofia on Friday in which Juric did not feature. 

This is presumably due to Juric being quarantined, as the club confirmed there were early suspicions of the striker's condition before his official diagnosis in a statement on their website.

"We examined all the players, coaching, sports and technical staff and club management staff," the club said in their statement on Monday (AEST).

"Only the positive test of the striker Tommy Juric is confirmed, who has been isolated since the first suspicions of COVID-19 on Thursday and is receiving the necessary medical care."

"It is gratifying that at the moment he has no visible symptoms and his condition is very good, but until his complete recovery the necessary quarantine period will be observed."

Juric completed his move to the Bulgarian side in 2019, following the expiration of his contract at Swiss Super League outfit FC Luzern.

Prior to his stint in Europe, the striker rose to prominence in the A-League, scoring 12 goals in 34 appearances for the Wanderers.

The 28-year-old from Sydney has amassed 41 caps for the Socceroos - scoring 8 goals - with his last appearance coming at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
