Dario Vidosic is closing in on a second coming at Adelaide United as a game of musical chairs involving Australians unfolds in China.

The 29-year-old attacking weapon - who scored 15 goals in 51 appearances for the Reds between 2010-2012 - is on the cusp of departing Chinese Super League side Liaoning Whowin, after just six months and 13 appearances along with Sydney FC-bound compatriot Michael Thwaite.

Coming the other way are Socceroos stars Robbie Kruse, from Bayer Leverkusen, and Adelaide midfielder James Holland, whose appearance against Melbourne City on Thursday night looks to be his last for the club.

Vidosic, who is fondly remembered by Adelaide fans after his influential spell at Hindmarsh Stadium, also has an option in the Middle East should he choose to exercise it.

But it's believed the sometime Socceroos midfielder's preference would be another stint in South Australia with the ailing A-League champions, who are in need of a boost having lost a host of their title-winning squad, and with Holland now at the exit door.
