Historic equality at the Tour Down Under, surprise attacks at the Giro, and sprint dominance in Burgos headline a huge week in cycling.

The Santos Tour Down Under will make WorldTour history in 2027, with men and women racing the same stages, on the same day, over the same distance. Organisers say the move follows requests from the Union Cycliste Internationale and women’s teams to shorten the Australian WorldTour block.

At the Giro d'Italia, Belgian rider Alec Segaert stunned the peloton with a late solo attack to win Stage 12 in Novi Ligure, while Portuguese rider Afonso Eulálio held onto the race lead ahead of a huge Alpine weekend.

In Spain, Lorena Wiebes powered to victory on Stage 1 of the Vuelta a Burgos Féminas, with Australia’s Georgia Baker finishing third. The race now heads towards a decisive mountain-top finish at Lagunas de Neila.
