Welsford and Fidanza sprint to victory as Aussie races and team futures take shape

Sam Welsford won the men’s Cadel Evans criterium from a decisive breakaway, timing his sprint perfectly on home roads. Martina Fidanza then took the women’s race after a chaotic run to the line ended in a bunch sprint.

The future of the Melbourne to Warrnambool Classic is under review after Otways bushfires damaged sections of the traditional route, with safety now the main concern.

Ben Healy has extended with EF Education EasyPost beyond 2026, aiming to build consistency and play a bigger leadership role in the coming seasons.
