From the Belgian cobbles to the Mediterranean and the big March stage races, the European cycling season is shifting into top gear.

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad launches Opening Weekend on 28 February, with Mathieu van der Poel headlining the men’s race while Wout van Aert misses out through illness. A tougher route and a stacked women’s field promise aggressive classics racing from the first cobbled sectors.

Tirreno Adriatico and Paris Nice begin in early March, splitting the peloton’s GC stars as riders build toward Milan San Remo and the Ardennes. João Almeida, Juan Ayuso and Mattias Skjelmose lead the charge, while Tadej Pogačar skips both events.

Meanwhile, the Giro di Sardegna has returned after 15 years away, with Nicolò Garibbo taking the opening stage and a demanding mountain test set to decide the general classification.
