A big week in cycling with Ben O’Connor’s home-season launch, Geraint Thomas stepping into leadership and the 2028 Worlds facing a dramatic course shake-up.

Ben O’Connor will start his 2026 campaign at the Tour Down Under, saying the home crowd gives him the perfect mix of motivation and pressure. The route suits his climbing strengths, and he hopes a strong start will set the tone for a more confident and consistent GC season.

Geraint Thomas begins his post-racing chapter as Director of Racing at Ineos Grenadiers. He’ll help guide strategy and rider development, marking a fresh direction for the team built on his experience and long connection to the squad.

The 2028 Abu Dhabi Worlds are being transformed by a major artificial hill under construction. The long, steep climb could shift the race from a sprinters’ showdown to a climbers’ battleground, offering new opportunities for punchy all-rounders and GC stars.
