Now officially retired from professional cycling, Sarah Roy reflects on her decade in the peloton, the sting of Olympic disappointment, and the emotional journey of stepping away from the sport on the SBS Cycling Podcast.

After wrapping up her career at the end of 2025, Sarah Roy reflects with pride on the journey that defined her decade in the peloton. While her final season brought challenges, she chose to approach it with clarity and purpose, completing one last year with EF Education and closing her racing chapter on her own terms.

I think it was really good to go another year... finish on a bit of a high

In an open and thoughtful conversation, she speaks about the transition to retirement not as an ending, but as an evolution. Proud of what she achieved at the highest level, she also shares how important support networks, perspective, and mental wellbeing have been in shaping this next step.

I think winning the National Road Championship title is one of my favourite races... I feel like I was really tactically clever that day

Now embracing a new chapter, Sarah is looking forward to travel, hiking, and opportunities beyond competition. Her story is an uplifting reminder that the finish line in sport is often the starting line for something just as meaningful.
