Grandpa helps granddaughter propose to her girlfriend in a heartwarming video

A New South Wales woman named Sarah proposed to her girlfriend this year - and chose an unconventional, but extremely heartwarming way to do it.

A month beforehand, Sarah found out her grandfather, lovingly referred to as 'Pa', sadly only had three months to live. Her Nan and Pa absolutely adored her girlfriend, Megan - so, knowing that the chances of Pa being able to attend their wedding were very slim, Sarah decided to involve her grandparents in the proposal.

“We have always been very close,” Sarah told Dancing With Her. “He is my best friend.”

For the proposal, Sarah took Megan to the beach, where she showed her the video of her grandparents, who ask Megan if she would agree to marry Sarah.

The touching video also includes Nan and Pa telling Megan that she is like family, and expressing how much they love her.

Pa says, "How we have grown to love you... You are now a part of our family, and we welcome you into our home, with or without Sarah, at any time."

"I have a favour to ask. Would you please consider and agree to marry our granddaughter, please? Thank you, and I hope you both have a very very happy life together."
The answer was yes, and Dancing with Her reports that Megan and Sarah will hold their wedding on the 7th of October.

Of course, same-sex marriage is not legal in Australia, so the ceremony will not be legally recognised. Instead, the couple have one of their friends marrying them, rather than a celebrant.

Heartbreakingly, Sarah's Pa passed away in the last week. DWH writes, "Although he won’t be there physically, he will be there in the hearts of Megan and Sarah having always played a monumental part of their plans to spend their lives together."
