The artists of Eurovision 2017: Valentina Monetta & Jimmie Wilson – “Spirit of the Night” (San Marino)

Eurovision is like her second home, but will performing as part of a duo make all the difference?

What do you get when an American and a Sammarinese walk into a club? An '80s-style disco duet which mimics Take That featuring Lulu’s remake of “Relight My Fire”. Bristling with delicious lyrics such as “burning like St Elmo’s fire”, there’s no disguising this is high camp.

Valentina Monetta is synonymous with San Marino's track record at Eurovision, having previously represented the tiny micro-state on three occasions - one of which was their only ever qualification to the grand final. In 2017, she’s accompanied by US entertainer Jimmie Wilson, who now resides in Germany. I’m not sure if anyone really wants to go to Monetta and Wilson's club, but for three minutes of frothy fun, we’ll indulge them a little.
