The artists of Eurovision 2017: JOWST – “Grab the Moment” (Norway)

A mask-wearing producer and a rapper/singer - it doesn't get more current than that.

#discoface. JOWST, aka Joakim With Steen, is a Norwegian producer and songwriter who has teamed with The Voice Norway finalist Aleksander Walmann on “Grab the Moment”. JOWST, surprise victors at Norway’s national selection contest, Melodi Grand Prix, will be taking the best gimmick to Kyiv in the form of a LED face mask which pulses to the electronic beats produced by the wearer.

“Grab the Moment” is fresh and very current. Walmann effortlessly rhymes over pulsing beats before tripping into a chantable chorus where he professes to want to “kill the voice in my head”. This is not a grab bag of tricks, though. The gimmicks produced in the staging enhance the effort rather than detracting from it.
