A late night internet-based show called @midnight hosted by Chris Hardwick on Comedy Central just came up with the hilarious hashtag #BoringBlockbusters.

The hashtag went viral after it featured on a segment from the American panel game show called #HashtagWars. The segment is a daily 60-second game on @midnight where panelists buzz in answers to add to the given hashtag. Audience members are encouraged to get involved on Twitter.

The #HashtagWars episode on 24 May featured the hashtag #BoringBlockbusters. The idea behind the tag came from a viral photo of Arnold Schwarzenegger with a selfie stick replacing a gun in a movie scene.

Panellists came up with some hilarious ideas for boring blockbusters like, Mission Achievable, Meh Max and The Jungle PDF. Their answers kept rolling and Twitter exploded with audience involvement.

Here's a round up of some of the funniest:
Comedy Central wrote on their page, “#BoringBlockbusters was such a hit we are planning 17 sequels and an expanded hashtag universe.”

The show then chose their top 10 from the Twittersphere. They were:

  • The Accountant of Oz

  • A Crossword Orange

  • Honey I Shrunk Your Sweater

  • The Craft Services

  • Just the Right Amount of Furious

  • Florist Gump

  • Conan the Librarian

  • Rocky Horror Antiques Roadshow

  • Lawrence in Academia

  • A Fistful of Dullards
The Boring Blockbuster ideas probably wouldn't break box office numbers. But the trending hashtag #BoringBlockbusters sure is entertaining.
