The Greek community of Darwin is mourning as one of the victims of the mass shooting on Tuesday night was of Greek background and an active member of the Community.

The victim’s name is Michael Sisois (Μιχάλης Σισώης) and he was in his ‘50s. The President of the local Greek Community, Mr Nikos Poniris confirmed the loss to the Greek Program of SBS Radio.

“We are in shock. The deceased was an active member of the community attending many events and a good family man. His origins were form Kalymnos”, Mr Poniris said.

The sad news will impact the annual Darwin Greek Glendi which is going to take place this weekend.

“We are now in constant preparations for the Glendi. Instead of being happy and laughing we are very sad. We can not even turn on the radio to listen to Greek music”, said Mr Poniris.

It has  been reported that Michael Sisois was shot dead in the parking lot of the Buff Clubb on Stuart Highway.

The victim's brother, Vincent Sisois lashed out at the authorities.

Talking to Sky News and NT News, Mr Sisois, said that the alleged shooter Ben Hoffman was known to be dangerous and should have been behind bars.

There were initial reports of a second victim of Greek descent during the armed attacks, but they were later dismissed.
