Ten students of Kamala Girls school in south Kolkata have accused they were forced to sign a written confession. According to the school authorities, some students had complained about these ten students.
Agitated parents and guardians of the girls staged a protest on Monday.
School authorities, however, deny any wrongdoing.
“We called those students, and they admitted it. Considering the sensitive nature of the issue, I asked them to admit it in writing. I have got written admissions from all ten students,” news agency IANS quoted the acting headmistress Sikha Sarkar as saying.
Sarkar told the news agency, “Today we called the guardians to apprise them of the issue. Our aim was to discuss the matter with them so that we can bring these girls on the right course through efforts both at home and in school."
The guardians, on the other hand, slated the school authorities saying the claims are false. "If two persons hold hands, or put an arm on each other shoulders, that does not mean they are lesbians," news18 quoted a guardian as saying.
