With Star Wars wielding the force in every cinema, the space shuttle Enterprise flew on its own for the very first time. Voyager 2 blasted off for deep space. France carried out a nuclear test at Moruroa Atoll and their last execution by guillotine.

, ABBA toured Australia and our first ATM began dispensing.... A Queen Elizabeth the Second opened Parliament. And tragedy for those riding the 6:09 a.m. from the Blue Mountains when it left the rails at Granville. Australians mourned 83 dead in our worst railway disaster. I'm Anton Enus for SBS's 50th anniversary. That was 1977.
