We're talking all the variations on buns and sauces, stacks and sides: here are ways to go beyond the standard burger.

Here in Oz we don’t usually think of putting oysters in our burger buns. But, it’s a Southern favourite in the US. The crispy deep-fried oysters work wonders when married with some mayo and hot sauce, and who can deny the satisfying crunch of a slaw?

This collaboration of comfort foods from Shane Delia's Moorish Spice Journey is genius! Glazed pork belly is one of those things that always makes you feel better. Wedge this meaty delight between some brioche and add some prawn cracker crunch and you have pure satisfaction.

A typical sight on the streets of Karachi, in Pakistan’s south, are bustling stalls selling bun kabab to locals looking for a quick and spicy snack. There are many regional variations to this street food favourite, one of which is the addition of a fried egg or an omelette.

This Aussie burger is a lean sensation – Kangaroo meat is as low in fat as it is high in deliciousness! So, this burger makes a great low-fat alternative to your standard beef burger. The rich flavor of kangaroo is teamed perfectly with the light tang of an apple and fennel slaw. 

For anyone who thinks tofu is only for vegetarians – give this a go! It's great paired with pork belly and slaw. Add a pleasant kick of sriracha and some home-made onion rings and you’re headed for pleasure-town!

Is it a burger or a sandwich? Either way, it's a fun choice for a meat-free burger, and gets a bit of kick from the "special spicy sauce".
