A snag on election day is practically a part of the constitution: so where can you find a good one?

Two Australian websites are helping voters support the very Australian ritual of a voting day fundraiser. Snag in a bun, anyone?

Treat yourself to a sizzling snag wrapped in sliced bread this Saturday. You deserve it. Or maybe a lamington made with love to raise money for the local school or sports team.

You're an upstanding citizen, you've paid your taxes, helped old ladies cross the road and in a few days time, you'll be a cog in the machine of democracy. So let Australia thank you with a "democracy sausage".

While these sausage sizzles might look like your average charity barbeque held at fetes and PeeWee footy games, where parents clip their tongs and shake the gold coins in their ice-cream punnets, Democracy Sausage sizzles reward those who have voted at this years' election.

A satirical group of democracy fans (or sausage fans?) has created a website to celebrate this cultural ritual and produced a map of all the sausage sizzles and cake stalls around Australia.  They say that sausage sizzles are "practically part of the Australian Constitution. Or something."

The website for Democracy Sausage, self-titled as the 'Council of Australian Sausage; An Election Sausage Sizzle and Democracy Sausage Joint Initiative' encourages people to host stalls and shares tip-offs of where vendors will be setting up, while also sending the message of how important voting is.

They aren't alone in their mission to help Aussie voters find a good snag in a bun or cake for a cause: Election Sausages, aka SnagVotes, is another porthole to find the sizzles near you. The site declares "the underlying objective is to celebrate our democracy, encourage participation in the democratic process and offer support for community groups and volunteers that run sausage sizzles and stalls on election day".  The site's 2016 Federal Election Sausage Sizzle and Cake Stall Map even has a "Snagvote Tally Room". (You can cast a vote for your local stall by clicking on your polling place on the map and indicating that you are "snagvoting" there).

Sausage enthusiasts are using the #snagvotes hashtag to let others know which stalls are the ones to watch...

Brunswick East Primary School - Melbourne, VIC

Has festively themed food and fizzy drinks.

Madeley Primary School - Perth, WA

Will be serving Bacon and Egg Rolls as well

Princes Street Primary School - Hobart, TAS

Pancakes with whipped butter and maple syrup for the sweet tooths.

Panania Public School - Panania, NSW

Bubble 'n Squeak wrap... with pickles
A sausage sizzle set-up outside a public school on a Saturday every three years is as Australian as kangaroo in a cork hat. Don't miss out!
