Cheese tastings are out, cheese festivals are in. Returning on Sunday 29 October for round five, Prahran Market’s Say Cheese festival is about as good as it gets for cheesophiles. Yes, there’s plenty of the hard, soft and semi-soft stuff to taste but there’s also Belleville’s three-cheese truffled mac ‘n’ cheese, 48H’s pizza and gnocchi, Wilson & Market’s braised short ribs with cauliflower mac ‘n’ cheese; Noisette’s gigantic sweet and savoury croissants; Cleo’s Deli’s manchego croquettes and Maker & Monger’s famous cheese toasties and oozing raclette – and that’s just the tip of the cheese wheel.
Christy Tania and her team from Glacé Frozen will be dishing up cheese-inspired ice-cream creations not seen elsewhere; Atlas Dining’s Charlie Carrington is manning an Israeli knafeh pop-up; and Thea Royale from Shaw River Buffalo will teach everyone a lesson in the art of mozzarella stretching.
Over at the Omega by Neil Perry Kitchen, you can catch demos from some of the above mentioned chefs who are on hand to deepen your knowledge of life’s finest rinds.
Or maybe you just want to chill in a corner with a glass of wine and a cheese board. And that’s totally ok, too.
