I expected something humorous from the queen of the quick quip, and Libbi later told me she was also surprised by the emotion that emerged when writing her story. Food is like that – it incites passion as well as soothing hunger and providing comfort. Not every meal is a memorable one, but there are enough to make food indisputably about more than just satisfying an appetite. This month, we have flavours to suit every palate. If Easter is your time for chocolate indulgence, turn to page 59 to discover how this ancient treat continues to tempt tastebuds around the world. We were also lucky enough to witness the traditions, food and fun of a Greek Easter celebration with the Stamatelatos family (page 47).

US food magazine Saveur recently praised the quality of Thai food in Sydney. We already knew it was great, having caught up with Chat Thai founder Amy Chanta to hear her amazing story of bringing authentic Thai cuisine to Australia (page 132).

If Japanese is more your thing, but you tend to associate it with fine dining, turn to page 78 to discover Japanese comfort food, inspired by the home cooking seen in Departures (screening on SBS this month). The ochazuke might just become your new chicken soup.

And, for those who have been enjoying the rise of South and Central American cuisine, you’ll love our fiery fiesta with some of the hottest Latin chefs in Australia (page 68). What memories does food invoke for you? We’d love to hear about them via email, Twitter or our website.
