Two Metre Tall Real Ale & Cider is produced in a converted shearing shed on the Huntington's farm in the Derwent Valley. They grow their own rare, heritage varieties of hops and barley. Their Real Ale "estate" founds itself on a philosophy usually synonymous with the wine industry, unsurprising given Ashley’s background as a winemaker. Naturally brewed and always bottle fermented, Two Metre Tall beverages seek to express the regions of Tasmania, as ingredients not grown on their farm are sourced directly from growers across the state. Sturmer Pippen apples from the Huon Valley and Pride of Ringwood hop flowers from the Forester River region in the north east are two examples.
Open by appointment only or each Friday afternoon/evening during October to April for the Farm Bar, with your chance to taste hand-pumped real ale at the brewery. Check the website for details.
