I’ve known Maeve for many years now. She’s fun, passionate and most importantly brilliant to work with. Throughout the course of the show I have had the pleasure of meeting some very interesting characters both generous with their time and sharing with me the fruits of their labour. The pride that exudes from these local producers is overwhelming. Working hard is important but having fun while you do it is just as important. I love food and I love cooking. I love the discovery of a new ingredient or the discovery of finding out something new about the ones you have been using for years. On the road with the crew was, at times, worrying but there was as much fun had on camera as there was behind the scenes. We sometimes travelled for days, while most of the time it was fun, getting lost in Queensland, in a national park I might add, was scary.
Italian Food Safari is more than just a food show it’s a cultural statement of the migration of an entire group of people that have come to Australia and transplanted their traditions and techniques into our young land. They embed their joy for living into an amazing country that has been ready to embrace all of the above with open arms while nurturing and watching it grow.
