The Deadlys are back!

Yes, it’s Deadlys time again! This is the 17th year of the Deadly Awards and it’s a significant year because it’s the 10th year they have been held at the Sydney Opera House. Here at SBS we’re proud to once again be host broadcaster in this our 9th year of involvement and partnership with Vibe Australia.I’m also proud to say that Living Black has been nominated for TV Show of the Year! It’s truly an honour and a privilege to be nominated. We’ve got some stiff competition from NITV but hopefully we’ll come away with a gong.SBS has another nominee in Aaron Fa’aso, who has been nominated for Male Actor of the Year for his brilliant acting in East West 101. There are some strong finalists in this year’s awards, with a total of 25 categories covering music, sport, entertainment, the arts and community. Along with familiar faces, it’s good to see some new up-and-coming talent nominated and acknowledged for excellence in their chosen fields. Tune into Living Black each week from Sunday 4th September to take a sneak peek at some of the nominees we’ll be profiling in the weeks leading up to this prestigious event. The Deadlys will be held on Tuesday 27th September and voting is now open. Just click here to vote for whoever you think is deadly in 2011! Voting closes 5pm Saturday 10th September so get those votes in!If you can’t make it to the beautiful Opera House, you can tune into our broadcast on SBS Television on Sunday 2nd October at 9:30pm on SBS ONE and the repeat on Saturday 8th October at 7:30pm on SBS TWO.That’s it from me for now, but stay tuned for more Deadlys info and don’t forget to lodge your vote and acknowledge the many achievements and great work by Indigenous Australians across the country!
