The Hairy Bikers' Cookbook

hairys series two

hairys series two

Take two blokes, two bikes, ample facial hair, a large dollop of adventure and infectious enthusiasm and the result is the 12-part documentary series, The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook.

But Dave Myers and Si King aren't trained chefs; they simply love food. In the series, they are on a mission: to travel to exciting parts of the world, to places where they find food that comes with a story attached. With their zest for both adventure and food, and their laugh-out loud capacity for fun, they make a very entertaining pair, as they travel on motorbikes (and anything else) to the ends of the earth in search of great meals.

The journeys are adventurous, the locations fascinating, the food delicious and often surprising. Meeting the locals and making friends wherever they go, inviting themselves behind the scenes into local kitchens, the Hairy Bikers learn to cook regional delicacies that are inextricably tied up with the cultures they're discovering.

Mexico – Part Two

Wednesday, 12th November 7.30pm

Si and Dave head into the mountains of Chiapas, land of the ancient Mayans. Perched among eagles high above Sumidero Canyon, our travellers celebrate the Mayan discovery of the cacao bean by making Mexican hot chocolate and the world's finest Chocolate Pudding. Afterwards, they join thousands of local Indians in ritual costume in the mother of all street parties. Outside picturesque San Cristobal, they are invited to a traditional Mayan village to cook a Pre-Hispanic Stew. Finally, at Palenque, among 2,000-year-old pyramids, Si and Dave look back at all the miles they have ridden this year and all the amazing food they have discovered.
