Curry stone
A square or rectangular slab of stone paired with a baba (a cylindrical piece of stone in the shape of a rolling pin) that is used to crush spices, similar to a mortar and pestle.
Billot
A heavy wood chopping block which occupies a place of honour in many kitchens.
Jarna
A large perforated spoon used in the preparation of special fried foods such as the Boondee and Badiah — small cakes made with chickpea flour.
Van
Acircular flat wicker tray with a raised edge, it is made out of Aloe or Vacoas fibres, measuring 16 to 20 inches. It is used to sift out any dust and debris from rice and lentils.
