Tortilla press

Known as a tortilladora, a tortilla press is a simple metal or wooden object with a base, top, and handle used to make corn tortillas. A comal, a cast-iron griddle pan or small skillet may also be used.

Molinillo

A wooden implement used to froth hot chocolate. It is rolled between the palms and is acts in a similar way to a whisk.

Blender

A must-have for the South American kitchen for ensuring finely chopped salsas, smooth soups, and cocktails mixed with ice.

Metate

Metates are lava rock grinding stones from Mexico. They are similar to a mortar and pestle, but the porous rock surface of the metate gives salsas a much richer flavour.
