Don't miss your chance to view cherry blossoms in bloom (known as hanami) as part of the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival at Auburn Botanic Gardens, until Sunday 27 August. In addition to The Cherry Trail, there is also a raft of other activities for Japanophiles, including daily origami workshops plus these thrilling one-offs.

A reason to get out your kimono or Cosplay

Free entry to those donned up on Friday 25 August, 9am-5pm only.

But leave your pets at home

Not pets allowed - even if they're in Cosplay.

Experience the zen of a traditional tea ceremony

On Friday 24 August, 11am-2pm.

Newly released limited tickets to previously sold-out screening of Shin Godzilla

Enjoy yozakura (a traditional nighttime cherry blossom viewing occasion), then sit back for an exclusive screening of Shin Godzilla - also known as Godzilla Resurgence - the next epic tale produced by Toho. It's in Japanese with English subtitles. On Friday 24 August, 5.30pm-9.30 pm, tickets cost $15.

And, of course, what would a monster movie night be without a monster food truck. Tsuru will be dishing up their goods - here's hoping lotus chips and mi goreng spring rolls are on the menu.

Stadium Sumo is back

Cheer on your favourite sumos as they compete for the Sakura Cup on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August, 11.30am, 1pm and 3pm.

J-pop your heart out at the silent disco

Comb your bangs out and get jamming with Japanese DJ Teddyloid on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August, until 5.30pm.

The best Japanese food trucks in one place

Including crackling pork Mr Bao Buns.

And handmade gyoza from Shiso Fine.

Get your 'gram on, like Adam Liaw

Entry is only $5 and there's a free shuttle bus from Auburn station

Even better, if you're a Cumberland resident or 16 years or under, entry if free.
