Smothered in chocolate ganache we had to salute our favourite, the lamington. Rich, decadent, indulgent and insanely large these lamingtons are perfect to serve as a dessert with fresh raspberries or to share with another chocolate lover (but only if you can part with the other half!).

It's that time of year when sugar comas are very real. If you love sweets and aren't wanting to sacrifice them for anything then perhaps a more homemade approach might be just the thing - we start with these homemade Twix. They’re surprisingly simple, extremely delicious, they're less sweet, more buttery, more crunchy, more salty and we're not going to argue with that.

7. Finger lickin'

South Americans are famed for their love of meat and these short ribs benefit from both a marinade and a sauce made with dark chocolate. A common ingredient in Latin American and European savoury cooking, chocolate is used to add depth and richness to sauces. So dive on into this low, slow and very rich recipe.

8. The upside

These little Dutch cakes are inspired by the French profiteroles - choux pastry filled with sweetened cream and topped with chocolate. Hold these pastries upside-down to eat them, so the cream doesn't drop out. Alternatively, hover them over your mouth at all times, just in case. Here you go.
