Which famous people would you want to have a dinner party with?

Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg are bringing this parlour game to life.

On the one hand, Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party  (showing as a late-night marathon on Food Network Australia on March 3 and 4) is a celebration of two BFFs sharing a laugh in the kitchen before settling in for a meal. On the other hand, this irrepressible pair are joined by a totally fun array of celebrity guests each episode. It’s like that parlour game where you say which famous person, living or dead, you’d most like to have dinner with. Except... obviously... in this case it’s just living people.

The fun starts in the kitchen, where our hosts are assisted by their dinner guests for the evening. Like good visitors, they each bring a gift – like the cabbage Fat Joe “worked on... a little bit” or Rick Ross’s cheese grater-themed bling for Martha to wear. Meanwhile, Kelis turns up with candied bacon instead of boy-bringing milkshakes, while Bella Thorne gifts Snoop with an enormous sausage that invites far fewer innuendos than you’d expect.

Banter’s on the menu from the very beginning, but even when it’s time for the actual food preparation, you won’t see the celebs standing idly by like they’re at a live taping of Huey’s Cooking Adventures. Things get loose in the Potluck Kitchen, which might mean Seth Rogen cheating in a chicken-frying race against Wiz Khalifa, Kathy Griffin cracking up at an idiosyncratic sushi-preparation session or 50 Cent blowing out as Snoop manages to turn the creation of pizza dough into the filthiest culinary monologue you’ve ever heard.

And there’s inevitably plenty of vodka in both dishes and glasses courtesy of Martha, who’s always ready for a toast.
Of course, the fun doesn’t stop just because Snoop has said grace and everyone’s tucking into their lobster thermidor or ripping hunks off a spitted pig. Depending on the night – and the whims of our hosts – there might be a show’n’tell portion to the proceedings that includes a toilet-themed gift from Barbra Streisand, “munchies mash-up” suggestions from Twitter that see Robin Thicke sampling milk-soaked cake (while DJ Khaled politely demurs) or Jason Derulo sparking off an intra-table pash party that’ll have you paying extra attention to your place settings next mealtime.

The more episodes you watch of this show, the hungrier you’re going to get (especially if you share any hobbies with Snoop Dogg). And basically, if you ever do get your celebrity dream dinner happening, you better step up your hosting game. Snoop and Martha are a hard act to follow.

A Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner late-night marathon is coming to Food Network Australia on March 3 and 4, kicking off at 10.30pm on Saturday.
