America: Land Of The Free, and, apparently, land of the un-cupped egg. In news that’s sending shockwaves around the world (read: on Twitter), it appears Americans don’t use egg cups.
Remember the social media outrage that followed when we discovered Americans don’t use kettles? The reaction is no less passionate when it comes to how Americans eat boiled eggs. People are seriously unhappy.
Leading the Twitter lampoon movement is Scottish Twitter user @innesmck, who became, er, emotional when he found out that humans have gone through 300 million years of evolution to, “have an egg just roll around on a f---ing plate.”
The sometimes invective-laden tweet stream went on. It was a bit of a rollercoaster.
And he’s not only one in shock.
Obviously some Americans use egg cups. It’s a big country. But some American Twitter users genuinely seem to not know what an egg cup is. If this is true, does this mean they’ve never had boiled eggs? Eggs and soldiers is a British invention, adopted by Australia with gusto, but surely boiled eggs are universal? Wednesday night calls for hard answers to hard questions.
Luckilly, a Twitter user explained the whole situation, managing to quell the budding culture war.
Still, is a life without eggs and soldiers really a life at all? While we’re left wondering whether Americans will ever know the joy of toast dipped in soft boiled eggs, thankfully a Canadian assured us that their country does indeed enjoy the delights that egg cups bring:
That kettle thing...

Americans don't use kettles and Australians are completely floored
