French chef, Gabriel Gaté, welcomes viewers to the Best of Taste Le Tour featuring the gastronomic highlights of the last 14 years of his gourmet journey through France and other European countries traversed by the Tour de France bicycle race. In the kitchen, Gaté cooks an appetising dish of Chicken Marengo with Olives.

Gaté features some outstanding gourmet specialities of countries bordering France, including seafood in the Netherlands, cheese in Belgium, wine in Luxembourg and bread and beer in Germany. In the kitchen, he prepares a Strawberry Fool, a delightful English dessert.

The popular French chef features the gastronomic specialities of Champagne in this episode. He visits the cellars of the house of Pommery and meets a local chef in a château.

Gaté meets three outstanding artisans, a chef, a sommelier and a cheese master from the Jura region. Each of them has received the highest and rarest French award for the mastery of their craftsmanship. In the kitchen, he uses a local Jura cheese in a Morbier and Comté Salad.

Gaté features the late, great chef, Paul Bocuse, in the gastronomic city of Lyon. He has known the Master Chef for over forty years and has been much inspired by him. In the kitchen, he cooks a classic dish of Scallop Mousse with Prawn sauce.

In this special episode, the French gourmet chef celebrates Bastille day, the French national day, with a glass of champagne. He talks about the high standard of seafood found in France.

In episode 11 the curious French chef features the Grand Chartreuse liqueur that has been made by monks in the Alps for four hundred years. He also learns about the famous Armagnac, one of his favourite spirits. In the kitchen, Gaté prepares a dessert of Coffee Parfait with Prunes and Armagnac.

Chef Gaté features Cassoulet, one of France’s most loved classic dishes. He also visits a cave in the village of Roquefort in the southern region of Occitanie, where a blue cheese has been made for about two thousand years. Gaté cooks a dish of Roast Duck Fillets with Orange and Hazelnuts.
