সিকদার তাহের আহমদ: সিডনির ক্যাম্পবেলটাউনে গত ২৯ মার্চ ২০২৬, Shetu-AU নামের একটি মোবাইল অ্যাপের উদ্বোধন করা হয়েছে। রিজেস হোটেলে আয়োজিত এই অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন বাংলাদেশের হাই কমিশনার His Excellency Mr. FM বোরহানউদ্দিন। এ নিয়ে একটি প্রতিবেদন।
সিকদার তাহের আহমদ: ২০২১ সালের সেন্সাস রিপোর্ট অনুসারে, অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় বাংলাভাষীদের সংখ্যা সত্তর হাজারেরও বেশি। বিভিন্ন সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যম যেমন Facebook-এ অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় বসবাসরত বাংলাভাষীদের বলা যায় বাংলাদেশীদের বিভিন্ন গ্রুপ রয়েছে। এসব গ্রুপে সাধারণ আলাপচারিতার পাশাপাশি কর্মসংস্থান, দৈনন্দিন জীবনে কাজে লাগে এরকম তথ্য ও খোঁজ যেমন electrician, plumber থেকে শুরু করে নানা ধরনের পেশাজীবীদের খোঁজ এবং অনলাইন ও অফলাইনে পণ্য ও পরিষেবা আদান-প্রদানের মতো বিষয়গুলো চোখে পড়ে। এই বিষয়গুলো বলা হচ্ছে কোন একটি প্ল্যাটফর্মে সবকিছু একসঙ্গে নেই। সেজন্য Shetu-AU নামের একটি মোবাইল অ্যাপ চালু করা হচ্ছে। যেন একটি প্ল্যাটফর্মেই প্রয়োজনীয় সবকিছু পাওয়া যায়। অন্তত এরকম কথাই বলা হচ্ছে এর উদ্যোক্তাদের পক্ষ থেকে। এর অন্যতম উদ্যোক্তা তৌফিক আহমেদ বলেন, "এই অ্যাপটি অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় বসবাসরত বাংলাদেশীদের জন্য একটি ডিজিটাল প্ল্যাটফর্ম, যা ব্যবসা, সেবা এবং community network-কে একত্রিত করে।"
আমাদের যেটা নাই, আমি আরেকটু যদি উরুদ দিই, আমাদের basically ওই communicate করার একটা platform-এর probably we needed another one. We have a number of platforms. This is another platform সেতু which is meant for only for Bangladeshi community diaspora app in Australia. The idea is to connect us, all of us professionally and business networking. This is not gonna end here. Again, আমরা অন্যান্য কাজের ভিতরেও এটাকে use করতে পারি। Job, rental, business directory, cultural and community engagement platform we, we need. It's just about this platform to further increase the engagement between us. So, এই সেতু app-এর Connect Bangladeshi Diaspora, uh, is private limited is the company that is delivering this সেতু app and the idea is to unite, connect and empower ourselves.

I would like to commend the creators and organizers of সেতু এউ for their vision, dedication and forward-looking approach. Bringing together a diverse community through technology re-- technology requires not only innovation, but also commitment and deep sense of motivation. I believe that this platform will open new avenues of collaboration among the community members. Bangladesh High Commission is ready to support the app to grow and flourish. By leveraging such, such platforms, we can enhance communication, improve outreach and strengthen our collective impact.
সিকদার তাহের আহমদ: তিনি আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন যে Shetu-AU অ্যাপটি শুধু অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় বসবাসরত বাংলাদেশীদের উপকারেই আসবে না, বরং বাংলাদেশ ও অস্ট্রেলিয়ার মধ্যে ব্যবসা, কর্মসংস্থান এবং জ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি বিনিময়ের নতুন সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করবে।
I believe that this app will facilitate professional business networking, promote cultural engagement and support charitable and social initiatives. In addition, this app will also share community driven information on job opportunities, micro, small and medium enterprises, rental and support services and community events. By organizing these services into one accessible platform, সেতু এউ will enable Bangladeshis across Australia to both offer and access support, enhancing visibility, opportunity and collaboration.
সিকদার তাহের আহমদ: তিনি আরও উল্লেখ করেন যে এই প্ল্যাটফর্ম প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশি community-র মর্যাদা বৃদ্ধি করবে এবং অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় তাদের অন্যতম সম্মানিত প্রবাসী গোষ্ঠী হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত করতে সহায়তা করবে।
The Bangladeshi diaspora in Australia continues to grow not only in quantity but also in quality. This community represents talent, resilience and entrepreneurial spirit that possesses a deep and enduring connection to the communi-- country.
Bangladesh community in Australia is equally contributing to building both the economies of Australia and Bangladesh. I am happy to share with you that in 2023, around fourteen thousand Bangladeshi students migrated to Australia for education. A stronger connection,
coordination and collaboration are needed to support the growing Bangladeshi community in Australia. A unified and well-connected diaspora is better positioned to support each other, share opportunities and create lasting impact.

I would begin by thanking the organizers for their hard work and the vision
in bringing this idea to life. The idea of
one app, one community connecting Bangladesh, Bangladeshis in Australia is simple, yet a very meaningful one. In true sense, one community is something we all aspire to. Even though we live in different places, lead a busy lives, there is always a shared connection that brings us together. In a humble way, I believe initiatives like this can help strengthen that connection, bringing people closer and making our community even more connected, supportive, and most importantly, united. That's where Setu becomes so important. Setu means bridge, and this app aims to be exactly that a bridge between people.

Thanks to Setu app team on this inauguration. So, আমি এই app এর কথা শুনছি অনেকদিন ধরে। কিভাবে শুনছি? Tofiq ভাইয়ের কাছ থেকে।

So this is the thing. আমাকে Tofiq ভাই যেদিন প্রথম বলেছিল, আমার মনে হচ্ছিল, wow, this is something I was looking for. This is a platform we can create and we can help each other.
সিকদার তাহের আহমদ: Shetu-AU এই app টির জন্য কাজ করছেন Juved Hossain, Syed Farmedi, Jisu Dasgupta বা JD, Samia Syed, Mahmud Rashid, Jafor Iqbal এবং Shahidur Rahman। আর নেপথ্যে থেকে অন্যতম ভূমিকা পালন করছেন Toufiq Ahmed। Toufiq Ahmed বলেন,
So I will take a little bit of time. আমি জানিনা আপনাদের সবার মোবাইলে Setu app টা আছে কিনা, but if I may give you twenty seconds to kindly have a look at the Setu app. ওটার ভিতরে অনেকগুলো category করা আছে। Job, task and services, then rent and BnB, marketplace, desi food, event, charity and then we have
parcel and life notes and others. These are the ten categories. It is well thought. কিভাবে আমরা এই categoryগুলো করেছি? We, we spent like hours after hours throughout all this time to think about it how to engage people where anything is left out or not আমরা ওটার ভিতরে আনতে পারি না।
So this is what you are gonna see. Job, task and services, rent and BnB, marketplace I told you about it.
এইগুলা হচ্ছে যে kind of Facebook but categorized for our community. এখানে যেটা হবে job মানে হচ্ছে এখানে job এর, আমাদের যে job এর posting থাকবে সেখানে job এর posting দেওয়া হবে। যার প্রয়োজন হবে সে এখান থেকে job খুঁজলে সে এখান থেকে নিবে। তারপরে আসতেছে task and services which has multiple categories. আমরা বিভিন্ন ধরনের ছোট ছোট কাজ, alteration কিংবা ধরেন lawn মই কিংবা ধরেন
cleaning। এই task গুলা এটার ভিতরে organize করা আছে। অর্থাৎ one way or other আপনারা এই সবাই either we are doing it or you are using these services. The idea is যে before you go outside of your community, have a look at it. Help another Bangladeshi who can do it. সে হয়তো শুরু করবে, আপনাকে দিয়েই শুরু হবে। Maybe not that professionally সে করে নাই, but you never know. It could expand beyond তার own horizon থেকে। শুরুটা again আমরা আমাদেরকেই সাহায্য করতেছি to start and then go beyond it.
এটার ভিতরে আমরা smart notification রেখেছি।
Then direct messaging আছে। অর্থাৎ একজন আরেকজনের সাথে direct কোনো need থাকলে সেটা messaging করতে পারবে। Easy posting and browsing and designed for every needs.

আমরা এই app টা তৈরি করছি। বলতে পারেন এটা আমাদের almost effort এর শেষের পর্যায়ে। The next phase is yours as a community. আপনাদেরকে এই app টাকে to make it useful for the community is kind of আপনাদের request থাকবে, আপনাদের কাছে আমাদের help নেওয়া। এটা তখনই successful হবে যখন people will find it their needs are mitigated through this app. একটা community একটা community কে help করতেছে।
সিকদার তাহের আহমদ: এই অনুষ্ঠানে Greater Sydney অঞ্চলের কয়েকজন স্থানীয় councilor, বাংলাদেশি community র Facebook group admin, বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, college ও school alumni association এর প্রতিনিধিরা, বাংলাদেশি media র সাংবাদিকগণ, ধর্মীয় সংগঠক এবং সমাজকর্মীরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
অস্ট্রেলিয়ায় বাংলাদেশিদের জন্য নির্মিত mobile app টি নিয়ে প্রতিবেদনটি শুনলেন। সঙ্গে ছিলাম আমি সিকদার তাহের আহমদ।
