Held at the Chandler Community Centre auditorium at Keysborough, the two-hour event commenced at 5 pm and featured performances by local Melbourne-based artists. The program showcased songs written by Humayun Ahmed, as well as songs used in his novels, television dramas, and films.

The event also included readings from Humayun Ahmed’s autobiographical writings and dramatic portrayals of some of his most iconic fictional characters. Organised under the overall supervision and direction of Anika Binte Kasem and Mayaz Rahman, with scriptwriting and presentation by Rajibul Islam, the event created a vibrant and emotional atmosphere for the audience.

Among the songs performed were Humayun Ahmed’s popular compositions such as “O Karigor Doyar Shagor”, “Ekta Chhilo Shonar Konna”, and “Amar Bhanga Ghore”. The repertoire also included Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, and folk songs by Hasan Raja, Ukil Munshi, Sheetalong Shah and Fokir Dinoheen that had featured in his literary and cinematic works. In total, 17 songs were presented throughout the evening.
The auditorium was filled with the enthusiastic presence of expatriate Bangladeshis.
