Syrian opposition wants six-month transition from Assad

Britain has backed a political transition plan for Syria that would involve President Bashar al-Assad stepping down. The proposal, put forward by the Syrian opposition, would have the leader leave power after six months of negotiations to make way for an interim government and elections.
