2019 Lunar New Year Celebrations in Dacey Gardens

On the fifth day of the lunar New Year, the day to welcome the god of wealth, Bayside Council, together with the Confucius Institute of the University of New South Wales, held a new year garden event to welcome the year of the pig at Dacey Garden Park, which attracted nearly 3,000 local residents.


Many overseas students as volunteers participated in this event as well. Some of them are setting up exhibition stands, and some are teaching tourists to play Guzheng and write calligraphy.

Junfang Xi, the director of the Confucius institute at the University of New South Wales, said that this year is the sixth year for them to host this event. Through such activities, she hopes to introduce Chinese culture to local residents and promote cultural exchanges.
