The first foreign policy white paper since 2003 was launched by Mr Turnbull, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and Trade Minister Steve Ciobo in Canberra on Thursday to a largely positive reaction from foreign affairs experts. The rise of China and its challenge to the US role as dominant player in the region looms large in the paper. The Chinese community raised different perspectives towards this paper.
