President Donald Trump has approved across-the-board tariffs of 25 per cent on steel imports into the United States and 10 per cent on aluminium. This will hit the countries that export significant amounts of steel and aluminium to the US pretty hard, China excluded but Australia not exempted. This was confirmed just a few days after the Prime Minister Turnbull's visit to the US on the occasion of 100-year friendship between Australia and US, which the Prime Minister lauded the visit was "very valuable". In light of "America First" and "China Rising", does Australia need to take a stand in the conflicts of Sino-US? Will Australia earn favouritism of US by demonstrating hash attitude toward China?
