Royal Life Saving has released the National Drowning Report for 2016/17. There were 291 drowning deaths in aquatic locations across Australia between 1 July 2016 and 30 Jun 2017. The figure has increase by 3% comparing with the drowning deaths number from 2015/16. The report also estimates that there were 685 non-fatal drowning incidents resulting in hospitalisation in 2016/17. Jiao Lu will take us through this report to see who, where, when and how people have drowned in Australian waterways over the last year. She will also share tips about how to prevent drowning.
