Bernardi introduce rate-hate bill despite Turnbull's view

Conservative Liberal backbencher Cory Bernardi has introduced a private bill to amend race-hate speech laws in the Senate. Senator Bernardi has moved the bill on behalf of several Government colleagues as well as crossbenchers including Pauline Hanson and Derryn Hinch. The bill seeks to remove the words "offend" and "insult" from section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act. And as ... reports, despite the Government and Labor saying they have no intention of changing the laws, some in parliament think the change may yet happen.
