British MPs have voted in favour of a proposal that calls on the government to replace the so-called Irish backstop with an alternative, in a last-ditch attempt to renegotiate Brexit. Theresa May has vowed to return to Brussels to renegotiate the "backstop" but the EU says it's not up for debate.
