Australia and East Timor have opened talks in the Netherlands to try and solve a dispute over the maritime border between the two countries.East Timor, one of the world's poorest nations, is trying to to draw a border midway between the two nations that would give it authority over more of the sea bed than it has currently.Australia says existing treaties between the countries comply with international law; East Timor says the most recent agreement is invalid because Australia was found to be spying on East Timor during those negotiations.
