Chinese government released a statement of directive to allow public access to private residential compounds. South China Morning Post reports that, according to the statement, "no more gated compounds will be built and that all new residential developments will have to be incorporated into the public street system. Roads and common areas in existing gated compounds will be opened to the public". Dr Jiangping Zhou, who is the lecturer of University of Queensland major in urban planning, believes that incorporating roads in gated residential communities with public roads will not improve Chinese city's traffic conditions. Dong Xing has the report.
