According to the report from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare in 2018:
1 in 6 (1.6 million) women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence by a cohabiting partner since age 15
1 in 6 (1.5 million) women and 1 in 9 (992,000) men were physically and/or sexually abused before the age of 15
1 woman a week and 1 man a month were killed by a current or former partner in the 2 years from 2012–13 to 2013–14
Intimate partner violence causes more illness, disability and deaths than any other risk factor for women aged 25–44
Leo Wei, founder and chairman of ACYEC said, many Chinese are reluctant to speak out their experiences of suffering domestic violence in Australia due to the influence of traditional concepts. He hopes to provide more employment opportunities to improve these people’s survive skills by holding charity activities.

“People who suffer from domestic violence should speak out”, said Delia Donovan, a senior executive of White Ribbon Australia, a non-profit charity in Australia. She encouraged people experiencing violence to call 1800 RESPECT's 24-hour helpline 1800737732 for help.
Dr. Helen Sham-Ho believes, the issue of domestic violence involves not only wives, but also involves children, the elderly and men. She also talks about her bad experience of suffering domestic violence 40 years ago.
