Stepping up its opposition to the Federal Governments proposed changes to the citizenship law, the Labor party has started a campaign national wide. Tony Burke, Shadow Minister for Citizenship criticized the proposed legislation in SBS Mandarin Radio, saying it is unfair to the Chinese community. Commenting on the English requirement, Senator Sue Lines said even as a English speaker she could barely reach the level of English required. Meanwhile, Pierre Yang, the MLC for Western Australia, also questioned the so called Australian value test. In the interview with SBS Mandarin, he commented that there is no necessity for citizenship applicants to pledge more loyalty in the test. Dong Xing reports.
